Speculative nights, low lighting, rare sightings of real dancing, iPlay.nyc is a play-full event. The images lack exposure, appearing mostly through the filters of other lenses and rarely directly from the source.
iPlay has moved between venues and cities, but returned to Brooklyn for another night after a prolonged period of operating somewhat on probation: off-record, unlisted, and largely circulated by word of mouth. People arrived both dressed down and up, but with consistent neutral tones, washed over with the rest of the fog. The night started with experimental sound performances by Megan Rosengarten and Brian Wenner, leaving the audience deep in the haze, some even laying across the floor. Jet Le Parti followed with a headline live set, performing material from his most recent release, Listening Post (2026), a noise-techno drone project. Transitioning into an afterparty, Le Parti shifted the energy, loosening the rules, and the night continued at speed, with performances from ALL EXIT, Sydfalls, Doula, and skoglund.
Momentarily re-exposed, iPlay sets the tone for the underground nightlife scene in New York City: transient, movement alive, and carried by a sense of community. But truly a scene that can only be caught if you’re fast enough to keep up.
