Thinking through Dimensions

Skylar Caeles gives technology a distinctly feminine form. Platinum hair, lace, pearls, pale knits and angelic imagery recur throughout her styling and 3D-printed work, but she pushes these familiar references into something more personal and strange. The decorative starts to alter the body itself: eyewear interrupts the face, jewelry extends from the body and soft, romantic styling is set against sharper forms that can read almost like armor. In Caeles’ work, technology becomes part of the softness rather than something set apart from it.

As founder and lead designer of CAELES, Caeles moves between styling, modeling and digital fabrication, often making the body itself the testing ground for an idea. Her work repeatedly turns adornment into something active, asking what an accessory can do beyond completing a look: how it can redirect attention, alter perception or change the way the wearer occupies space. Her art brings digital processes into physical design, turning ideas conceived on-screen into objects that alter how the body is dressed, seen and presented.
